Today was my last day at Eagle Crest Resort. I have been there since 2002. I am leaving the Assistant Golf Superintendent position overseeing the Ridge and Challenge golf courses. While there I went through downsizing during the "great recession", an ownership change and had five different Superintendents as my boss. Eagle Crest has been good to me and my family and through it all I am thankful for all the opportunity. I began looking up the wonderful people I worked there with on Facebook so they might find this blog and I can connect with them during the coming year. I am officially "in between jobs". (insert smiley face emoji here!!!) Moving is progressing..... I go looking for things in their usual places, only to find that place no longer exists because the dresser is in the garage awaiting the movers. We are at crunch time with movers arriving Monday. We sign closing documents on our house Tuesday. Our updated shove off day is Tuesday the 5th of July. We figure that our first stop near Dayville OR. will be less crowded after the holiday. You can drop that mower two club lengths no closer to the hole..Photo credit:Cari Papen

I went for my run/walk with my friend Kim today, typically we go on Sunday mornings, but she had today off. It will probably be the last one we do; camping and parties are on the calendar for the next weekend, so no Dry Canyon Sunday morning run. I went out with some girlfriends on Saturday. Between family vacations and camping trips, it will be the last time I go out with them for a year. Lily is seeing some school friends next week. They want to see her "one last time" before she leaves. Lance wants to see an Elks game before we leave, so that is on the schedule for Wednesday night. He is loving baseball right now, so if you stop by, be prepared to play catch or hit a few balls with him.
Two more weeks of trying to see everyone, getting organized in the trailer, moving the last of the stuff to storage, and trying to have a little fun too. I am sure there will be more "last time for a year" events in the next two weeks...two weeks. That's it. Then everything changes. After a few shake down cruises, we've fixed a few systems on the fifth.
Kim asks, "Did we get a lemon?" I reply, "No, we got a trailer!!!" The reality of having a trailer that experiences a 5.0 earthquake every time it travels, was not designed or engineered for daily living, is that things break. That's okay. You just need to be prepared for that reality. You also have to have the mindset to accept it for what it is. So far I will have adjusted the slides (ez job🔧), resealed with silicone on a few hatches (ultra ez🍺🍺) and finally upgraded batteries, lights to LED, and commissioned a bike rack for the back (💲💲💲)..... I know there will be many more repairs and upgrades over the next year. That's ok. I just have to keep this thing together for 356 days, right!!! |
